Lu will join Clariant in January 2026 as President Designate for Care Chemicals & Americas
Clariant has announced the appointment of Marcelo Lu as President - Business Unit (BU) Care Chemicals. He will succeed the current president, Christian Vang, who is retiring in 2026.
Lu will join Clariant in January 2026 as President Designate for Care Chemicals & Americas and a Member of the Executive Steering Committee.
Lu brings a strong international track record in the chemicals sector. He began his career with BASF in 2006 and has held a range of commercial and general management roles in Germany, Hong Kong, Canada, the United States, and Singapore.
His previous leadership positions include serving as President of BASF Canada Inc. from 2016 to 2021 and as Senior Vice President, Care Chemicals North America, at BASF Corporation. In 2024, he was appointed President of BASF Asia Pacific (excluding China) and Non-Executive Director of BASF India Ltd., based in Singapore.
This leadership change is a planned succession aimed at ensuring the business unit's continued growth and performance.
