Faisal Mohammed Alfaqeer takes helm as SABIC CEO ahead of 50th anniversary

Faisal Mohammed Alfaqeer has officially assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), stepping into the position at the company’s headquarters in Riyadh.
Alfaqeer was appointed by SABIC’s Board of Directors in March, succeeding Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh.
“It is with a great pride that I take the helm at SABIC, a global industry leader and national champion with long-standing legacy,” Alfaqeer said. He added, “I am privileged to be chosen by SABIC’s esteemed Board of Directors to lead the company into its next chapter, building on its rich and long history as the company is set to mark its 50th Anniversary.”
A veteran of more than three decades in the chemicals and petrochemicals industry, Alfaqeer brings deep experience and strategic insight to SABIC. His previous leadership roles include chairing the boards of ARLANXEO and Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company, serving as CEO of Sadara Chemical Company from 2017 to 2022, and holding the position of Senior Vice President of In-Kingdom Liquids-to-Chemicals Development at Saudi Aramco.
Alfaqeer holds a Master of Science and PhD in Materials Science & Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, as well as a bachelor’s degree from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
