Ketjen Corporation has named a new chief to steer the company into its next chapter, tapping industry veteran André Lanning as CEO as longtime leader Michael J Simmons steps down.

The leadership shake-up signals a decisive push for growth at the catalyst and specialty chemicals firm, with Lanning taking the helm at what insiders describe as a pivotal moment for the business. He is expected to drive strategy, sharpen operations, and expand Ketjen’s global footprint.

Backers are making their expectations clear.

“We are excited to welcome André Lanning to Ketjen,” said Rahul Sevani, Partner of KPS Capital Partners, LP.

“André is a proven leader with deep expertise across the chemicals and refining catalyst industries. His track record of driving growth, strengthening operations and building high-performing organizations makes him uniquely suited to lead Ketjen. We are confident he will accelerate the Company’s strategic agenda and deepen Ketjen’s relationships with customers and technology partners globally.”

Lanning steps into the role with 35 years of experience across the chemicals sector, including a decade in refining catalysts. He most recently led TFL Ledertechnik as CEO, positioning the company for major global expansion.

Before that, he headed Advanced Refining Technologies, a joint venture between WR Grace and Chevron, and held senior roles spanning refining catalysts, pulp and paper, fertilizers, and plastics.

Now, he’s signaling an aggressive, execution-focused agenda.

“I am honored to join Ketjen at this pivotal time under new ownership. Ketjen has the technology, the people, and the market access to win. The priority now is consistently delivering clear value to our customers through strong execution, expanding our portfolio and strengthening operational performance.

"At the same time, we will continue to develop market-leading technologies that differentiate us and reinforce our position as a partner of choice. I look forward to working with the team to unlock that potential.”

With new leadership in place and investors watching closely, Ketjen is betting that Lanning’s track record can translate into faster growth—and a stronger competitive edge in a rapidly evolving global chemicals market.
