Luis Fernandez-Moreno joins Celanese Board

Celanese Corporation has elected veteran chemicals executive and director Luis Fernandez-Moreno to its Board of Directors, adding more than four decades of global industry and leadership experience to the company’s 11-member board.
 
Fernandez-Moreno, 64, joined the board effective September 16, 2026. Ten of Celanese’s 11 directors are independent.
 
He currently serves on the boards of Ingevity Corporation, where he has been a director since 2016 and served as interim President and CEO from October 2024 to April 2025, and Select Water Solutions, a provider of sustainable water and chemical solutions to the energy industry.
 
His career spans performance materials, specialty ingredients and coatings businesses across North America, Latin America and Europe. His experience includes corporate strategy, growth and innovation, mergers and acquisitions, and the management of global chemicals operations.

Fernandez-Moreno previously spent four years at Ashland, Inc., serving as Senior Vice President from 2013 to 2017 and leading the company’s Chemicals Group and Specialty Ingredients businesses. He earlier served as president of Ashland’s Water Technologies business.
 
Fernandez-Moreno holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico and is a graduate of the Wharton Management Certificate Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
