Sharma brings over three decades of experience across the hydrocarbon infrastructure value chain
Manoj Kumar Sharma today assumed the charge as Director (Projects) of GAIL (India) Limited, India’s integrated energy major.
Sharma joined GAIL (India) Limited as Director (Projects) from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), where he previously served as Executive Director and Regional Head for Eastern Region Pipelines. At IOCL, he oversaw a 5,700+ km pipeline network across five states, leading operations, maintenance, construction, and City Gas Distribution (CGD) operations.
Sharma brings over three decades of experience across the hydrocarbon infrastructure value chain. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Production & Industrial Engineering) from Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) and a PGDBM from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). His extensive expertise spans design, engineering, project procurement, construction, and operations management. Throughout his career, he has successfully managed complex pipeline networks for crude oil, petroleum products, LPG, and natural gas, alongside strategically critical crude oil terminal projects.
Earlier, Sharma has also served as Executive Director (Projects), Pipelines Division, IOCL, where he was responsible for engineering, procurement and construction management of major oil, LPG and natural gas pipeline projects in India and overseas.
He has served on the Boards of GSPL India Transco Limited (GITL), GSPL India Gasnet Limited (GIGL), and Kochi Salem Pipeline Private Limited (KSPPL) as Nominee Director representing IOCL, contributing to strategic governance and the development of energy infrastructure.
With extensive leadership experience and a proven track record in board-level governance, project execution, business development, operational excellence and cost optimisation, Sharma brings a comprehensive understanding of the energy infrastructure sector along with his focus on innovation and emerging energy initiatives that will contribute to GAIL’s continued growth and transformation in the evolving energy landscape.
