Izwan Ismail brings nearly three decades of experience spanning corporate finance, commercial operations, and technology
PETRONAS Chemicals Group Bhd has officially appointed Izwan Ismail as its new managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2027. He will succeed Mazuin Ismail, who is stepping down from the roles following his retirement from the PETRONAS group.
Izwan Ismail brings nearly three decades of experience spanning corporate finance, commercial operations, and technology. A Harvard graduate and accountant, he serves as PETRONAS’ Vice President of Group Technology and Commercialisation, overseeing digital and R&D initiatives, and holds board positions within group subsidiaries. His extensive background includes leadership roles such as President and CEO of PETRONAS Energy Canada Ltd and Head of Corporate Finance.
