He becomes the first Indian in the history of the Academy to receive this honour.
In a major international recognition for Indian science and engineering, the Canadian Academy of Engineering has elected Prof. Ganapati D. Yadav, Vice President of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Chairman of the Board of Governors of Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU Nagpur), Chairman of the Governing Body of S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, and Founding Vice-Chancellor of Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT Mumbai), as a Fellow of the Academy.
He becomes the first Indian in the history of the Academy to receive this honour. He will be formally get inducted at Edmonton, Canada, on June 1, 2026.
Reacting to the announcement, Prof. Yadav said that the honour belongs to his alma mater ICT Mumbai, his talented students, and his family members who supported him throughout his journey.
A recipient of the Padma Shri, Prof. Yadav has received more than 150 national and international honours. Recently, he was selected to deliver the prestigious Danckwerts Memorial Lecture jointly organised by the Institution of Chemical Engineers, American Chemical Society, and Elsevier. He was also honoured with the Acharya P. C. Ray Gold Medal by the University of Calcutta.
Prof. Yadav is internationally recognised for his pioneering work in green hydrogen, decarbonisation, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), carbon dioxide valorisation, and waste biomass conversion. He currently chairs the Hydrocarbon Committee of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and serves on hydrogen infrastructure committees of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. He has guided 117 Ph.D. students, published 576 research papers, and holds 139 patents.
