Sarma has over 40 years of experience, with 30 years being in the Middle East
The Board of Directors of Larsen & Toubro has announced the elevation of Subramanian Sarma from Wholetime Director & President, Energy to Deputy Managing Director & President of the Company with effect from 2nd April 2025.
The Board has also decided to extend his term to 3rd Feb 2028 subject to shareholders’ approval in the upcoming AGM.
On this occasion S.N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director said “Sarma has been instrumental in transforming our Hydrocarbon and Energy businesses, driving innovation, operational excellence, and global competitiveness. His elevation is well deserved, and I am confident that his leadership will further strengthen L&T’s growth trajectory.”
A graduate in Chemical Engineering, Sarma completed his master’s from IIT Mumbai. A seasoned professional, he has over 40 years of experience, with 30 years being in the Middle East. During his career span, Sarma has handled the complete Oil & Gas value chain across various geographies. Prior to joining L&T, Sarma served as Managing Director of a large EPC company. He was appointed to the Board of L&T in August 2015.
Under Sarma’s leadership, L&T’s Energy portfolio has emerged as one of the leading EPC Contractor globally, by achieving record financial results and being ranked among the Top 3 EPC contractors in the Oil & Gas Sector (Middle East) for four consecutive years.
