Rawat has over 32 years of rich experience in oil & gas exploration and development activities in various basins of the country
Sushma Rawat has been appointed as Director (Exploration), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in place of Rajesh Kumar Srivastava who ceased to be Director (Exploration) of the company with effect from Ist January, 2023, on attaining the age of superannuation.
She assumed charge as Director (Exploration) of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation on Ist January, 2023.
Rawat, a post graduate in Geology, has to her credit over 32 years of rich experience in Oil & Gas exploration and development activities in various basins of the country. Rawat has been an Integral part of Government of India's initiative, of appraising the un-appraised basins of the country and bringing new areas in exploration fold, headed team for Resource reassessment of Mumbai Offshore Basin under "Re-assessment of Hydrocarbon Resources for Sedimentary Basins and Deep-Water areas of India" and also was the core team member of the Central Team for 26 Basins from 2015-2017.
Rawat has been the lead member of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited team for identifying and assessing of new areas in Category-I, II and III basins of the country based on the data available in-house and new National Seismic Program (NSP) data and Nodal person for working out the requirement and technical - financial details of Parametric wells and planning of NSP lines in all Lesser Explored Basins (Category-I, II and III) and un-probed areas of Category-I basins of India. Additionally, she was also responsible for the Director - OPaL (ONGC Petro Additions Ltd.).
Rawat was ED-Basin Manager of Assam & Assam Arakan Basin (A&AA Basin), looking after the ONGC’s Exploration and Production activities for the entire North East region. She is also on the Board of ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited (OTPC).
