Strategic partnership will give regional petrochemical customers strategic and continuous access to polymers
Petrochemical major Braskem, the largest petrochemical company in the Americas, signed a strategic partnership with the largest global logistics company, AP Moller - Maersk and and PSA Corporation (PSA) to open a new logistics terminal in Singapore. The agreement will allow Braskem to provide its customers in Asia with regular access to its vast portfolio of polymers.
Along with the entry of Braskem's first polyethylene vessel at the Port of Singapore, earlier this year, this development reinforces the company's presence as a relevant player in Asia. For more than 10 years, Singapore has hosted Braskem's operations in Asia, through a regional commercial office, and the creation of this terminal will allow it to fully meet the growing demand from markets such as China, India, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand.
With the new partnership with AP Moller - Maersk and PSA, the company will manage the terminal's operations focusing on global logistics and hub-in-transit services with multiple carriers at the Port of Singapore.
This new event stems from the existing partnership between Braskem and PSA, whose special Forward Hubbing scheme allows Braskem to use PSA Singapore, the largest container transhipment hub in the world, as a focal point for regional distribution. The partnership allows Braskem to have the shortest processing time and broad access to PSA Singapore's inventory details.
"Our growth strategy is totally based on innovation and sustainable development. Having a strong and consistent presence in a power like Singapore creates unique opportunities to become agile and at the same time consistent", Roger Marchioni, Director of Braskem Asia, says.
