CPMA to finalise report on sub-group on petrochemicals

The Chemicals and Petrochemicals Manufacturers Association (CPMA) will finalise a report of the sub group on petrochemicals under the working group on chemicals and petrochemicals to be adopted for the 12th Five Year Plan.
The Chemicals and Petrochemicals Manufacturers Association (CPMA) will finalise a report of the sub group on petrochemicals under the working group on chemicals and petrochemicals to be adopted for the 12th Five Year Plan.
This was decided at a recent meeting held by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC).
The final working group report is required to be submitted to the Planning Commission.
On behalf of the CPMA, Association of Synthetic Fibre Industry (ASFI), All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA), Organization of Plastic Processors of India (OPPI) and Indian Centre of Plastics in Environment (ICPE) among others, the following issues were highlighted:
1. Objectives of the 12th Five Year Plan.
2. Performance of petrochemicals during the 11th Five Year Plan.
3. Projections for the 12th Five Year Plan.
4. New capacity additions planned for the 12th Five Year Plan.
5. Employment potential both in the upstream petrochemicals and downstream plastic processing industry.
6. Status of recycling industry.
7. Issues for sustainable growth.
8. Recommendations on fiscal and non-fiscal issues.
ASFI mentioned that the synthetic fibre growth potential figures need correction. The representative from the Planning Commission requested that the schemes proposed to be continued during 12th Five Year Plan and new schemes proposed for 12th Five Year Plan need to be added in the report along with their financial implications.
After detailed deliberations, it was decided that CPMA will forward a copy of the presentation to all associations and all industry associations will forward the amendments, if any, to CPMA. After that, CPMA will finalise the report.
