Nippon Paint showcases advanced coil coating innovations at SMARTCOR

Nippon Paint spotlighted its advanced coil coating technologies at SMARTCOR 2026 – the 1st International Conference on Materials for Corrosion Resistance and Smart Control, held on July 10–11 at CSIR–Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) in Bhubaneswar.
 
Bringing together global researchers, academia, industry leaders and innovators, the conference served as a platform for exploring next-generation corrosion-resistant materials and smart control technologies aimed at building a more sustainable future.
 
Representing Nippon Paint India, Subash Gaijes Selvaraj, President – Industrial Coatings, delivered a technical presentation titled ‘High-Performance Coil Coating Solutions for Pre-painted Steel’, highlighting the critical role of advanced coating technologies in enhancing durability, corrosion protection, weather resistance, sustainability and lifecycle performance of modern infrastructure.
 
Gaijes highlighted Nippon Paint’s global R&D capabilities, advanced exposure testing across diverse climatic conditions and innovation-driven approach to developing customised coating solutions. 
 
His presentation covered emerging technologies including next-generation fluoropolymer coatings, high-performance primer systems, functional coatings and sustainable solutions such as low-VOC, lead- and chromate-free coatings, cool roof technologies and energy-efficient coating systems.

Gaijes also joined an expert panel discussion on ‘Rust, Risk and Resolution: Advanced Practices in Industrial Corrosion Management’, where industry experts examined emerging technologies, advanced practices and strategies for improving asset protection and extending lifecycle performance.
 
SMARTCOR 2026 brought together leading voices from materials science, corrosion management and industrial technology sectors to exchange insights and accelerate innovation in corrosion prevention and sustainable industrial solutions.
