The work will cover a wide range of areas including green chemistry, catalyst development, CO2 to chemicals, and zero-liquid-discharge systems

Abhitech Energycon Ltd has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee to work jointly on technologies that support cleaner energy, better water management and climate-resilient industrial systems.

The two organisations will combine their strengths to develop solutions that can be deployed across sectors such as power, steel and cement. The work will cover a wide range of areas including green chemistry, catalyst development, CO2 to chemicals, and zero-liquid-discharge systems. Both teams share the goal of creating technologies that are scientifically sound, practical to implement and capable of delivering measurable gains in efficiency and sustainability.

The partnership will also explore climate engineering initiatives. This includes research on cloud seeding for rainfall enhancement, approaches for drought mitigation, and methods for reducing industrial emissions through carbon capture and circular-use strategies.

To support these efforts, the Abhitech–IIT Roorkee Fellowship is being set up, which will further encourage young researchers to take up applied work in clean energy and climate technologies.

Leaders from both sides said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to solutions that can make a long-term difference. They noted that bringing academic insight and industrial experience together is essential to address the scale and complexity of today’s environmental challenges.

Abhitech and IIT Roorkee aim to contribute to India’s broader energy and climate goals by translating research into technologies that can be adopted at scale, across industries that are central to the country’s growth.
