Barentz has expanded its technical footprint in China with the opening of a new Shanghai office and Human Nutrition application laboratory, strengthening its ability to support customers with local expertise, formulation development and faster product innovation.

 

The new facility marks a significant investment in Barentz’s Human Nutrition business in China and the wider Asia Pacific region. The laboratory will initially focus on bakery and savoury applications, providing application expertise and technical support to customers as well as strategic principal partners.

 

The Shanghai site is designed to bring Barentz’s technical capabilities closer to customers, combining specialty ingredient expertise with local market knowledge and hands-on formulation support.

The new laboratory is part of Barentz’s broader global Human Nutrition technical network, led by Mariano Vasconcellos, Global Technical Director. The company operates application laboratories across multiple regions and has more than 40 application specialists supporting areas including bakery, beverages, health and nutrition, savoury, dairy, meat and fish, plant protein solutions and other food categories.

 

In Shanghai, the team will bring particular expertise in modified starches and stabilizer systems, strengthening Barentz’s technical support across key food and beverage segments in China.

 

The laboratory will also serve as a link to Barentz’s wider APAC and global technical community, enabling local teams to tap into the company’s broader application knowledge and capabilities.

 

Globally, Barentz’s Human Nutrition business works with customers across bakery and pasta, beverages, dairy, confectionery, nutrition, savoury, meat and fish, as well as ingredient producer markets. Its offering combines ingredient expertise, application development and innovation support.

 

With the Shanghai facility, Barentz aims to bring that global capability closer to the Chinese market—enabling faster product development, closer customer collaboration and stronger technical support for innovation projects across China and the wider Asia Pacific region.
