Indian Chemical News (ICN), an online news media covering Chemicals, Petrochemicals, and Energy sector is organising a session on Lab Innovations, Applications, and Sustainability on May 9 at Hotel Hyatt Place, Bharuch.

The session is part of a 2-day conference titled “Gujarat Chem & Petchem Conference (GCPC) 2025” on May 8-9, 2025 at Hotel Hyatt Place, Bharuch, Gujarat. The theme of GCPC 2025 Conference 2025 is Viksit Gujarat: Viksit Bharat@2047. Please register as a delegate for the conference by clicking on the link (https://www.indianchemicalnews.com/gcpc-2025/register.php).

The main objective of the conference is to understand the fundamental issues of Chemicals and Petrochemicals plants in Gujarat and prepare a solution roadmap through various brainstorming sessions and presentations. Along with the Conference, there is an Expo where Exhibitors are displaying their latest innovations, technologies, and other offerings to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability of plants.

Lab innovations are driving advancements in science and industry, particularly in the chemical sector, by developing sustainable technologies, materials, and processes. Labs are developing green catalysts and bio-based materials to replace fossil-derived chemicals. There are advancements in carbon capture, hydrogen production, and energy storage. These innovations enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enable applications in renewable energy, waste management, and water treatment. Sustainability in labs focuses on minimizing resource use, adopting green chemistry principles, and creating scalable solutions for global challenges like climate change and resource scarcity.

The session will emphasise how lab innovations are shaping sustainable solutions for chemical industries, with applications that address environmental challenges while fostering efficiency and scalability.

Speakers participating in the session are: Dr. S. Mangaleswaran, Head R&D - Green and Sustainable Chemistry, DCM Shriram Innovation Centre; Dr. Jagannath Jadhav, Assistant Vice President - R&D and Business Development, Indo Amines; and Dr. Shrikant J. Wagh, Provost, UPL University of Sustainable Technology. The moderator for the session is Dr. Mayank Dave, Head of Quality, Galaxy Surfactants.

Key discussion points to be covered are: Emerging lab innovations; Applications across industries; Nano-technology-based water filtration; Sustainability in lab practices; Limited funds for R&D, Translating lab innovations to industrial applications; Commercialization of lab breakthroughs; Opportunities and future directions; and Policy incentives for labs adopting low-carbon technologies.
