Hitachi High-Tech Corporation has expanded its technology and customer-support footprint in India with the launch of a new demonstration laboratory in the financial capital.
In Mumbai, the lab aimed at targeting growing demand for advanced analytical solutions across biopharmaceuticals, environmental applications, materials, chemicals and industrial sectors.
The Advanced-Technology Innovation Center Mumbai for analytical systems, established on October 1, is operated by Hitachi High-Tech India Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of the Hitachi High-Tech Group.
The facility is designed to help customers tackle research and development as well as quality-control challenges through hands-on demonstrations, customer-sample evaluations, application proposals and technical consultations.
The Mumbai Lab adds a second specialised technology hub to Hitachi High-Tech’s India operations.
In 2025, the company established the Advanced-Technology Innovation Center India in Bengaluru, focusing on the semiconductor sector.
The Bengaluru site is equipped with advanced electron microscopes, including the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM) SU8600, alongside other devices and digital technologies. It supports sample evaluation, failure analysis and process verification while enabling closer collaboration with customers.
The new Mumbai facility complements that semiconductor-focused operation by concentrating on analytical applications in chemicals and industrial sectors.
At the Mumbai Lab, Hitachi High-Tech has installed analytical systems including spectrophotometers, liquid chromatographs, thermal analyzers, amino acid analyzers and potentiometric titrators.
The company plans to use the facility not simply as a product demonstration centre, but as a platform for developing solutions to specific customer problems. Multiple analytical systems can be combined to address complex business requirements, while customer samples can be evaluated on-site to support proof-of-concept work and application development before equipment is deployed.
The two-site model gives Hitachi High-Tech a presence across two of India’s rapidly expanding technology and industrial segments: semiconductors through Bengaluru, and chemicals and industrial applications through Mumbai.
The company said the approach will expand customer touchpoints and create more opportunities for joint solution development.
Hitachi High-Tech also plans to strengthen the provision of digitalised assets supporting HMAX Industry, Hitachi Group’s next-generation solution, with the aim of helping customers address operational challenges and accelerating industrial transformation through the use of physical AI.
The Mumbai Lab is located in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area of Thane, around a 60-minute drive from Mumbai Airport.
The location provides customers with access to a full-fledged chemical analysis environment designed to meet Indian safety and environmental standards for analytical evaluation of chemical substances.
This enables customers to conduct testing and verification using actual samples at the facility, while working directly with Hitachi High-Tech specialists.
The company expects the facility to serve a broad range of customers, particularly in biopharmaceuticals, environmental applications, materials, chemicals and other industrial fields.
Hitachi High-Tech said it plans to further strengthen its India presence through the two-site laboratory model, while enabling the facilities to independently deliver value to customers in their respective fields.
Beyond customer collaboration, the company plans to organise hands-on workshops, work with academic institutions and offer student internships. These initiatives are intended to support scientific and technological development in India while helping build the next generation of technical talent.
With the Mumbai and Bengaluru facilities operating as complementary hubs, Hitachi High-Tech is positioning its India operations to provide more localised access to advanced analytical and inspection technologies.
The company said it will continue to identify customer challenges and support the advancement of R&D, quality control and industrial capabilities in India through advanced analytical technologies and application-focused solutions.
