These insulation shells, crucial for preventing heat loss, corrosion, and condensation, are now stronger, more durable, and more efficient

Russian petrochem giant SIBUR has launched a breakthrough solution in shell-type thermal insulation materials, introducing next-generation polyurethane foam (PUF) shells for pipeline protection.

These insulation shells, crucial for preventing heat loss, corrosion, and condensation, are now stronger, more durable, and more efficient thanks to SIBUR’s innovation. The new material boasts low thermal conductivity, high compressive strength, minimal water absorption, and superior molding performance.

“When developing this solution, we optimized every stage—from the polyurethane formula to foaming and shell molding—achieving low thermal conductivity and high strength without increasing density,” said Vasily Mashukov, Director of Applied Development at SIBUR PolyLab Research Center. “The result is insulation that reduces heat loss and extends pipeline service life.”

Ruslan Khairullin, Director of SIBUR’s Engineering and Road Infrastructure Division, emphasized the market impact: “This is not just a replacement for imported materials. Together with our PoliLab Vsevolozhsk team and partners, we’ve created a product that meets real customer needs, delivering energy efficiency, durability, and operational reliability.”

SIBUR’s new polyurethane foam shells promise to set a new standard in pipeline insulation, combining advanced material science with practical performance.
