The Research Planning Department will focus on company-wide technology/R&D coordination
Sumitomo Chemical is splitting its Research Planning and Coordination Department into two specialized units in order to strengthen company-wide R&D collaboration and enhance corporate research.
The Research Planning Department will focus on company-wide technology/R&D coordination and the Corporate Research Planning and Coordination Department will focus on promoting and managing corporate research topics.
To optimize and enhance the commercialization studies for topics related to corporate research, as well as enhance its foundational technologies, Sumitomo Chemical will merge the Environmental Health Science Research Laboratory, Advanced Materials Development Laboratory, and Bioscience Research Laboratory to form the new Advanced Foundational Technologies Laboratory. In addition, Corporate R&D Laboratories will be renamed to the Corporate Research Laboratories.
As a result of the restructuring and consolidation of the Company’s lithium-ion secondary battery separator business to SSLM, a subsidiary located in South Korea, the Battery Materials Division will be eliminated.
