Xinjiang Zhongtai’s AGR resin sets New benchmark with national standard approval

Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical Fukang Energy Company has announced that its acrylic copolymerized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin has successfully passed the National Standard Project Evaluation. This achievement marks the company’s first independently developed Sino-Thai chemical product to meet national standard requirements.

The AGR resin, developed by Fukang Energy, is a special anti-scour polyvinyl chloride resin designed to address the low impact strength of conventional PVC materials. It is a modified PVC resin produced through in-situ grafting polymerization of a polyacrylic acid elastomer with vinyl chloride monomer. The result is a high-performance material offering superior impact resistance, wear resistance, aging resistance, insulation, flame retardancy, and corrosion resistance—comparable to engineering plastics.

With its broad application potential, AGR resin can be used as a raw material or component in manufacturing high-strength plastic products. Its versatility and excellent physical properties have made it a key focus of polymer research both domestically and internationally.

Previously, the lack of a unified national standard for AGR resin posed a challenge for the industry. The successful establishment of this standard not only resolves that issue but also promotes the healthy development of the PVC industry and ensures better market regulation.

According to Zhang Delong, Deputy Director of the Fukang Energy Research and Development Center, the company introduced high-impact PVC composite resin technology from Hebei University of Technology in August 2016. Building on small-scale R&D achievements, the center independently designed and established a dedicated acrylic emulsion polymerization production line. Moving forward, the R&D Center plans to continue advancing new product standardization, gradually forming a comprehensive standard system and driving high-quality, innovation-led enterprise development.
