Packaging and recycling giant ALPLA is stepping up its expansion in Türkiye with two new production plants in İzmir and Adana, backed by a combined investment of approximately €30 million.
The new facilities are designed to expand ALPLA’s production capacity, bring manufacturing closer to customers and shorten supply routes across key markets. The plants were officially opened on 14 September in Adana and 15 September in İzmir.
“Türkiye combines industrial strength, a dynamic consumer goods industry and significant future potential. With these new facilities, we are creating the conditions to support our customers even more effectively and continue growing alongside them as a reliable partner,” says Philipp Lehner, CEO ALPLA Group.
The two sites significantly expand ALPLA’s production footprint in the country and reinforce Türkiye’s role as a major production and competence centre within the company’s Africa, Middle East & Türkiye (AMET) region.
ALPLA, which has operated in Türkiye since 1992, now has plants in Kocaeli, Ankara, Konya, Adana and İzmir. Türkiye accounts for around one-third of the company’s capacities and business activities in the AMET region.
“Türkiye plays a key role in our regional strategy. We are now able to cover a broader geographical area and further strengthen our position as a system provider. Over the coming years, we intend to continue expanding our activities step by step,” explains Javier Delgado, Regional Managing Director AMET at ALPLA.
The new İzmir facility covers approximately 50,000 square metres and is designed as a flexible production platform for PET preforms, closures, HDPE and PET bottles. The 20,000-square-metre Adana plant focuses on PET preforms alongside HDPE and PP packaging solutions.
Together, the plants will supply customers across the beverage, food and dairy industries, as well as home care and personal care markets.
The İzmir plant will primarily serve customers in the Aegean region and western Türkiye, while Adana will supply markets across the Mediterranean and south-eastern parts of the country.
ALPLA says the expanded network will support shorter lead times, greater production flexibility and more reliable supply for customers in major consumer goods markets.
“The new plants bring us even closer to our customers. At the same time, we are investing in modern technologies and production capacity. In doing so, we are making an important contribution to the long-term development of our business in Türkiye,” says Emre Canoğlu, Managing Director ALPLA Türkiye.
The new facilities incorporate automated production technologies, photovoltaic systems and rainwater harvesting systems as part of ALPLA’s efforts to support more resource-efficient operations.
The openings were attended by ALPLA CEO Philipp Lehner, COO Walter Ritzer and other guests. Austrian Ambassador Gabriele Juen also attended the İzmir opening.
With the two new plants, ALPLA is positioning Türkiye for further capacity growth while strengthening its ability to serve customers from strategically located production hubs across the country.
