Suzlon will manufacture recyclable wind turbine blades using Recyclamine technology
Grasim Industries Limited’s Advanced Materials Division, Aditya Birla Renewables Limited (ABRen), and Suzlon Energy Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop, commercialise, and scale India's first wind turbines featuring recyclable blade technology. Announced at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026, the pilot partnership aims to accelerate sustainable, circular end-of-life solutions for wind turbine blades, which are traditionally difficult to recycle and often end up incinerated or in landfills.
Conventional wind turbine blades are mostly made from thermoset composites that are hard to recycle, usually ending up in landfills or incinerators at the end of their lifespan. To solve this, blades built with Grasim's Recyclamine epoxy technology can be chemically recycled. This process recovers valuable composite materials so they can be reused in new products. By keeping materials in use, this breakthrough supports a circular economy, cuts down on waste, lowers environmental impact, and makes wind energy projects much more sustainable.
Under this partnership, Suzlon will manufacture recyclable wind turbine blades using Recyclamine technology. Aditya Birla Renewables will install one of these turbines at a live project site to test its real-world commercial performance. Moving forward, both companies will look to scale and market these circular turbines across India and other global regions.
“This collaboration marks an important step toward building a truly circular wind energy ecosystem. By combining the Recyclamine® technology with Suzlon’s manufacturing expertise and ABRen’s renewable energy ambitions, we are demonstrating that sustainability and innovation can go hand in hand. Together, we aim to accelerate the adoption of recyclable wind turbine blades and set new benchmarks for resource efficiency in the wind industry", said Rajesh Balakrishnan, Chief Executive Officer, Advanced Materials, Grasim Industries Ltd.
“The future of renewable energy lies not just in generating clean power, but in building truly circular solutions. At Suzlon, we are advancing this vision through our flagship S144 platform, which has one of the world's lowest carbon footprints among wind turbines, and by working towards making all future turbines recyclable within the next three to four years. This partnership brings together innovation and scale to accelerate material circularity, with the potential to enable significant CO₂ savings. It is another step towards ensuring that every turbine we build delivers lasting value for both the planet and future generations." Said Girish Tanti, Co-Founder, Suzlon Group.
“At ABRen, we believe the energy transition must be accompanied by innovation that enhances environmental sustainability. This partnership is an important step toward addressing the end-of-life challenges associated with wind turbine blades and advancing circularity within the renewable energy sector.” said Amit Jain, Chief Executive Officer, Aditya Birla Renewables Limited
