Polyplastics Group, a global leader in engineering thermoplastics, has unveiled new PLASTRON long-fiber thermoplastic (LFT) grades made from post-consumer recycled (PCR) polypropylene.

The two new developmental grades, PLASTRON RSG20011 and RSG20013, are currently undergoing sample production and evaluation.

“These new grades deliver mechanical properties equivalent to our virgin material products,” a company spokesperson said.

Featuring more than 30% PCR content and reinforced with 30% to 40% glass fiber, the new LFTs offer high rigidity and excellent impact strength on par with Polyplastics’ commercial virgin-material products.

By using PCR materials collected from the market, the company says the new grades reduce the product carbon footprint by more than 20% compared with virgin raw materials. The figures, calculated using the GHG Protocol and ISO 14067 standards, rely on operational data and reference values from reliable databases, though they are not guaranteed.

Polyplastics is pushing further into sustainable solutions. “Polyplastics will further expand our product lineup to include products utilizing recycled materials and cellulose fibers. This will help reduce environmental impact and enhance the ability to meet customers' diverse needs,” the spokesperson added.

The move highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability while maintaining the high-performance standards expected in engineering thermoplastics.
