The company’s first capital contribution of RMB 89 million (approximately JPY 2.1 billion) is scheduled for October 15, 2026
Japan’s Nissan Chemical Corporation has established a wholly owned subsidiary in Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province, China, with registered capital of RMB 210 million (approximately JPY 5.0 billion), as it moves to strengthen its supply network in the country’s growing semiconductor market.
The new entity, Nissan Chemical Semiconductor materials Zhangjiagang Co., Ltd., will manufacture and sell bottom anti-reflective coatings (BARC) for photoresists and multilayer materials used in semiconductor manufacturing.
The move comes amid expanding semiconductor demand driven by ongoing digitalisation and rising customer expectations for more resilient supply chains. By establishing a manufacturing base closer to customers in China, Nissan Chemical aims to improve supply stability, respond faster to changing demand and strengthen customer service.
The company said the new subsidiary would help reinforce its supply framework in the Chinese semiconductor market while supporting sustainable growth in its semiconductor materials business and enhancing corporate value.
The subsidiary was registered on September 1, 2026, following a decision by Nissan Chemical’s board of directors on April 28, 2026. The company subsequently entered into an investment agreement with Zhangjiagang City in Jiangsu Province.
Nissan Chemical owns 100% of the new subsidiary, which is represented by NAKADA Takakazu and has a fiscal year-end of December 31.
The company’s first capital contribution of RMB 89 million (approximately JPY 2.1 billion) is scheduled for October 15, 2026.
With registered capital exceeding 10% of Nissan Chemical’s own capital, the new entity qualifies as a specified subsidiary of the Japanese company.
The establishment of the China subsidiary marks a strategic step in strengthening Nissan Chemical’s semiconductor materials operations in a market where demand continues to expand.
By localising production of anti-reflective coatings and related materials, the company aims to build a more responsive supply network and better address customers’ growing need for reliable semiconductor material supplies.
The initiative is expected to support Nissan Chemical’s longer-term growth ambitions in semiconductor materials as digitalisation continues to drive demand across the industry.
