The Leeds Food & Nutrition Center adds to the 13 Brenntag Specialties Food & Nutrition Centers across EMEA and to the Personal Care Center in Leeds
Brenntag, the global market leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, announced the begin of operations of its new Innovation & Application Center in Leeds, UK.
The facility will focus on research and development for Food & Nutrition applications and provide services for customer projects related to ingredient selection, formulation guidance and applications. Dedicated Brenntag experts will serve customers and suppliers with concepts and prototype development, customized formulation support, technical solutions and stability studies for a broad range of applications.
“Brenntag acts as an important link with our customers and suppliers to bring innovation closer to the marketplace. The new Center is a great addition to the strong network of now already 31 Food & Nutrition Innovation & Application Centres globally and 13 in the EMEA region,” said Jerzy Jasinski, Global President Nutrition and President Brenntag Specialties EMEA.
Product focus will be especially on Bakery, Dairy, Meat and Plant-based products, Ready Meals, Sauces and dips, as well as Beverages and Nutrition for customers from Food industries manufacturers across UK and Ireland.
Special machinery is used in the new Centre, which includes a MIWE oven, Combi Rational oven, Autoclave (Tuttnauer), Meat grinder (Mainca), Meat tumbler (Vakona), Stephan Mixer, Hobar Mixer, Silverson Dispersion units, Ice cream, machine Carpigiani, Homogenizer GEA, Sorbetto machine, Waterbath for sous vide, Vacuum sealer and a canning machine. In addition, there is a whole array of analytical equipment for example, Texture analyzer, Viscometer, Colourimetry, Microscopy, moisture analyzer, Brix, pH, aw measurements.
The new Innovation & Application Center for Food & Nutrition is located in the Lawnswood House of Lawnswood Business Park in North Leeds. The business park already hosts the headquarters of Brenntag in the UK as well and the new Center was opened next door to the existing Center for Personal Care. Brenntag chose Leeds for both Innovation & Application Center due to its proximity to the existing businesses and many suppliers as well as customers in the region.
