Covestro launches first regular e-truck deployment to customer site in China

Route expected to cut CO2 emissions by 47 percent compared to diesel transport

Covestro has taken another step toward decarbonizing its supply chain by launching its first regular electric truck deliveries to a customer in China. As part of its expanding green logistics program, a heavy-duty electric truck now transports materials from the Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai to the Tongxiang manufacturing site of China Jushi, the world’s largest fiberglass producer, located in Zhejiang province.

Covering a round-trip of over 200 kilometers, the e-truck is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 36.9 metric tons annually—a 47 percent cut compared to conventional diesel transport, based on estimates from Covestro’s third-party logistics service provider.

This marks the first time Covestro has extended electric transport beyond its own operations to reach a customer site on a regular basis. It builds on experience drawn from short-haul transport using e-trucks to move chemicals between its Shanghai site and nearby warehouses.
