The chemical industry is entering a transformative phase where supply chains must evolve beyond efficiency to become resilient, intelligent, sustainable and future-ready
Indian government is accelerating the development of integrated industrial corridors and rolling out the ambitious BHAVYA – Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna to build 100 plug-and-play industrial parks.
The move is aimed at strengthening India's position in global manufacturing and supply chains, Rajat Kumar Saini, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), said while addressing the 4th ICC NicerGlobe LogNext 2026 in Mumbai.
Organised by the Indian Chemical Council (ICC), the flagship conference on chemical supply chains and logistics brought together policymakers, global industry leaders, logistics experts, technology providers and senior executives under the theme, 'Beyond the Horizon: Designing the Chemical Supply Chain for a Decade of Uncertainty'. KPMG was the Knowledge Partner for the event.
Addressing the inaugural session as Guest of Honour, Saini highlighted the Government of India's sustained focus on creating integrated industrial corridors, multimodal logistics infrastructure and world-class manufacturing ecosystems to enhance India's competitiveness in global supply chains.
He said the government is also driving the implementation of the BHAVYA – Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna, a landmark initiative to develop 100 plug-and-play industrial parks across the country. He noted that coordinated infrastructure development and policy support would play a pivotal role in accelerating the growth of India's chemical manufacturing sector.
Vishnu Sharma, NICDC, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, outlined the government's vision of creating globally competitive industrial ecosystems through integrated industrial corridors and world-class logistics infrastructure.
He said seamless multimodal connectivity, smart industrial townships and sustainable infrastructure are critical to strengthening India's manufacturing competitiveness and positioning the country as a preferred global destination for chemical production and supply chains.
Opening the conference, Samir Somaiya, Vice President, ICC, and Chairman & Managing Director, Godavari Biorefineries Limited, said the chemical industry is entering a transformative phase where supply chains must evolve beyond efficiency to become resilient, intelligent, sustainable and future-ready.
He underlined the importance of collaboration between industry, government and technology partners to strengthen India's emergence as a global chemical manufacturing and logistics hub.
Setting the agenda for the conference, Aman Sethi, Partner, Oil & Gas and Chemicals, KPMG, highlighted the rapidly changing global business environment shaped by geopolitical uncertainties, evolving trade corridors, digital transformation, sustainability imperatives and changing customer expectations.
He said the conference was designed to provide practical insights and strategic direction for organisations navigating the next phase of chemical logistics.
Delivering the keynote address, Patrick Hore, Global Vertical Head of Energy, Chemicals & Raw Materials, A.P. Møller – Maersk A/S, presented a global perspective on the transformation of chemical supply chains.
He stressed the need to build resilient logistics networks capable of adapting to geopolitical disruptions, trade realignments, digital innovation and decarbonisation while ensuring business continuity and long-term competitiveness.
A key highlight of the inaugural session was the release of a comprehensive White Paper prepared by KPMG, providing strategic insights into the evolving chemical logistics landscape, emerging risks, technological transformation, sustainability priorities and pathways for building future-ready supply chains.
The conference also recognised companies demonstrating excellence in health, safety, environmental protection, security and sustainability through the presentation of Responsible Care Logo Certificates for new certifications and recertifications.
