€25 million push toward automation and global growth

Symrise AG has officially launched the second phase of its new logistics center in Holzminden with a groundbreaking ceremony, marking a €25 million investment aimed at reshaping its global supply chain backbone.

The expansion is designed to significantly boost logistics capacity, improve supply chain efficiency, and reinforce Holzminden as a central hub in the company’s worldwide network. The ceremony also signals a long-term commitment to the headquarters city as part of Symrise’s broader infrastructure strategy.

The project sits within the company’s Vision 2035 program, which is focused on scaling operations, modernizing infrastructure, and embedding automation across logistics. Completion of the second phase is planned for March 2028.

A state-of-the-art, fully automated logistics hub is at the core of the expansion, including a high-bay warehouse with around 10,000 shelf spaces. The facility will connect directly to the existing logistics site, streamlining material flow and optimizing transport structures.

The company says the new setup is expected to reduce traffic pressure in the city while improving operational efficiency.

Jean-Yves Parisot, CEO of Symrise, said: “Over the next few years, we will build more than a logistics center for Symrise at this site. We are investing in the future of our headquarters in Holzminden while at the same time strengthening our global positioning.

"As a state-of-theart, fully automated, and digitalized logistics hub, this project reflects our ambition to create a company designed to perform. The digitalization of processes creates greater transparency and efficiency and supports our transformation into ONE Symrise.

"In this way, we create real added value for our customers and can support them quickly, flexibly, and reliably around the world. This groundbreaking ceremony sends a clear signal of growth and shows how consistently we are developing our infrastructure.”

The new facility will be operated by Symotion, Symrise’s wholly owned logistics arm, and is expected to act as a fully integrated hub for just-in-time deliveries aligned with production and customer demand.

Jens Baedje, Managing Director of Symotion, said: “With this logistics center, we are creating an efficient hub for our flow of goods and taking our processes to a new level. We are combining modern infrastructure with efficient processes to strengthen our logistics performance over the long term.

"At the same time, we are further enhancing and improving our processes in a targeted way through just-in-time deliveries precisely aligned with the production process and customer wishes.”

The expansion strengthens Holzminden’s role as a strategic industrial base and marks another step in Symrise’s long-term push to build a fully digital, automated logistics network designed for global scale and efficiency.
