Expands silicone additives push across EMEA
Univar Solutions is ramping up its specialty chemicals strategy, announcing an expanded partnership with Dow that will bring advanced silicone additives for plastics and composites to markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The agreement extends a long-running collaboration between the two companies and significantly broadens distribution of Dow’s silicone technologies throughout the EMEA region. The materials are designed to boost performance, improve processing, and support sustainability goals in plastics and composite manufacturing.
"Our partnership with Dow is built on shared principles of customer success and delivering value through innovative, application–focused solutions," said Matthew Oliver, senior vice president of Performance Materials for Univar Solutions. "Expanding into silicone additives for plastics and composites is a natural next step, allowing us to deliver advanced silicone technologies that help customers achieve performance and sustainability goals."
Under the deal, Univar’s Ingredients + Specialties division will distribute Dow’s silicone additives across a wide regional footprint, including major European markets such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and others spanning 30+ countries in total.
The companies say the move strengthens their position in advanced materials, combining Dow’s decades of silicone innovation with Univar’s commercial reach, technical support, and supply chain infrastructure. The focus is on delivering tailored solutions that improve durability, processing efficiency, and resource optimization for manufacturers.
Univar also highlighted the role of its Essen Solution Center, which supports collaboration with suppliers like Dow to develop application-driven solutions for CASE, rubber, and plastics markets across the region.
The expanded agreement reinforces both companies’ push into high-performance specialty materials at a time when manufacturers are under growing pressure to improve sustainability without compromising output or efficiency.
