The certification allows the facility to manufacture ISCC PLUS-certified elastomers using the mass balance approach
Global synthetic rubber manufacturer ARLANXEO has secured a major sustainability milestone, announcing that its Therban (HNBR) and Buna (BR) manufacturing units at its Orange, Texas facility have achieved ISCC PLUS certification—enabling the site to produce and supply materials under the company’s ARLANXEO Eco label.
The certification allows the facility to manufacture ISCC PLUS-certified elastomers using the mass balance approach, strengthening ARLANXEO’s ability to supply verified sustainable materials to customers across North America and global markets. The company’s ARLANXEO Eco Line features a portfolio of certified elastomers designed to help customers reduce carbon footprints without sacrificing performance.
The achievement marks a significant step for the company’s Specialty Elastomers business. The Orange facility is now the first Therban HNBR production site in ARLANXEO’s global network to obtain the certification.
“The Orange site is the first Therban HNBR production facility to receive ISCC PLUS certification and further strengthens the sustainability mission of ARLANXEO, as well as the Eco portfolio of the Specialty Elastomers cluster,” said Edwin Grootendorst, Global Head of Business Specialty Elastomers.
The certification also covers Buna BR produced at the site, adding new capacity to the company’s growing sustainable elastomer portfolio.
“With Orange joining our existing ISCC PLUS-certified Buna sites, ARLANXEO now has ISCC PLUS Certified Basic Elastomers producing sites on 3 continents, with a truly global reach. This reinforces our commitment to providing customers with circular, mass balanced solutions that help reduce environmental impact while maintaining the performance they expect,” said Rohit Prabhune, Global Head of Business Basic Elastomers.
For ARLANXEO, the development also strengthens its position in the North American market, where demand for lower-carbon materials is accelerating across industries.
“This certification helps solidify ARLANXEO’s position in the NORAM region as a premium supplier and partner – and supports the sustainability ambitions of our customers across key industries,” said Jay Capelli, Regional Head of Sales NORAM.
ISCC PLUS is a globally recognized certification system that verifies traceability, transparency, and responsible sourcing across supply chains. By incorporating renewable and circular raw materials through the mass balance methodology, ARLANXEO can offer Eco-grade elastomers that deliver lower carbon footprints while maintaining the technical performance expected by customers.
