Dragonfly will deploy Axens’ proprietary Vegan HEFA technology at project sites using modular process units
Axens has announced a collaboration with Dragonfly to license its Vegan HEFA technology for the development of multiple sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facilities across Africa and the Caribbean.
Under the agreement, Dragonfly will deploy Axens’ proprietary Vegan HEFA technology at project sites using modular process units designed and supplied by Dragonfly. These facilities will convert renewable feedstocks—including used cooking oils, waste animal fats, and vegetable oils—into sustainable aviation fuel.
Axens will support the projects with integrated catalyst and adsorbent solutions, proprietary equipment, and a range of operational support and training services aimed at optimizing plant performance and ensuring long-term reliability.
Positioned as a global leader in process technologies, Axens provides solutions spanning the conversion of oil and biomass into cleaner fuels, renewable fuels, and bio-based chemicals, as well as natural gas treatment and carbon capture.
The company is also a major global licensor of industrial units, offering end-to-end support from feasibility studies through to startup and full lifecycle operations.
Dragonfly, meanwhile, focuses on accelerating the deployment of its technologies to bring SAF refineries to market faster than conventional timelines, while reducing both financial and carbon intensity. The company emphasizes producing biofuels from local waste streams for local use, targeting underserved markets at a city-scale level.
