LANXESS has reinforced its position as one of the chemical industry’s leading sustainability performers, securing top-tier rankings in the latest Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index.
The specialty chemicals company is ranked first in Europe in the “Chemicals” category and fifth worldwide, with standout results in climate strategy, water management, human rights, and product stewardship.
“Our excellent performance in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index underlines that sustainability is firmly embedded in LANXESS’ corporate strategy—an area where we make no compromises, even in difficult economic times,” says Matthias Zachert, Chief Executive Officer of LANXESS AG.
“Our progress in key areas such as climate protection, responsible use of resources, and good corporate governance is recognized internationally—this strengthens our credibility with customers, investors, and partners.”
The company also received a significant boost from Sustainalytics, which upgraded LANXESS from “Medium Risk” to “Low Risk” in its ESG risk rating. With a score of 19.6, LANXESS now ranks among the top 4 percent of specialty chemicals companies and the top 6 percent of the global chemical sector.

Meanwhile, EcoVadis reaffirmed the company’s Gold status, scoring it 83 out of 100 and placing it among the industry’s top performers.
The company continues to push ahead with its long-term sustainability roadmap, targeting climate-neutral production and energy use by 2040, and a fully climate-neutral value chain by 2050. Its strategy integrates environmental responsibility with economic performance and strong governance standards.
