As Riverstone facility expands for fast-growing north-west region

DuPont has secured a major win in Australia’s expanding water infrastructure push.

The company's MemCor MBR system has been selected for a key upgrade at the Riverstone Water Resource Recovery Facility in Sydney’s fast-growing north-west corridor.

Announced on June 9, 2026, the project marks a significant investment in wastewater capacity designed to support rapid population growth while strengthening environmental protection across the region.

The upgrade will be delivered by the North West Hub Alliance—bringing together Sydney Water, John Holland, KBR, and Stantec. Under the deal, DuPont will supply a MemCor membrane bioreactor system made up of 2,592 MemPulse B50 modules.

The facility is being designed to handle an average flow of 24.8 megaliters per day, with peak wet weather capacity reaching 86 megaliters per day.

Once completed, the Riverstone expansion is expected to significantly boost treatment capacity across Sydney’s north-west, enabling new housing development while reducing pressure on local waterways in one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.

DuPont’s MemCor MBR technology combines biological treatment with advanced membrane filtration, producing high-quality effluent in a compact footprint—an increasingly important factor in dense urban infrastructure upgrades where space, performance, and reliability are critical.

“Projects like Riverstone demonstrate how collaboration across utilities, the North West Hub Alliance and technology providers can help communities plan for growth while protecting vital water resources,” said Matthew Dick, Business Development & Sales Manager at DuPont Water Solutions.

“We are proud to support this major infrastructure investment with proven MBR technology and local expertise through our team based here in Australia, where our MemCor MBR systems are manufactured.”

The company says its water technologies already help purify more than 50 million gallons of water every minute across 112 countries, spanning municipal treatment, desalination, and industrial applications.

DuPont continues to position its water division at the center of global infrastructure challenges, from energy production to emerging industries such as lithium and green hydrogen.
