Elcogen and China Southern Power Grid subsidiary seal pact to advance solid oxide technology

The companies will explore joint development of solid oxide products for the Chinese market
Elcogen has signed an MoU with Guangzhou Xinzhili Energy Technology, a subsidiary of Guangdong Power Grid, and part of China Southern Power Grid, in a move aimed at advancing solid oxide stack technology and expanding the company’s activities in China.
The non-exclusive agreement, signed in Paris, France, on August 24, 2026, brings together Elcogen’s solid oxide technology expertise and Guangzhou Xinzhili’s power-sector capabilities.
The MoU was signed by Elcogen Sales Director Hannu Anttila and Xiong Jun, Chairman of Guangzhou Xinzhili Energy Technology.
The companies will explore joint development of solid oxide products for the Chinese market while also assessing opportunities to promote solid oxide cell products globally.
Their planned cooperation will focus on optimising stack system performance, integration design and system validation — areas seen as critical to accelerating the commercial deployment of solid oxide technologies.
Potential applications span data centres, distributed power generation for industrial and commercial customers, and hydrogen production through electrolysis.

Xiong Jun, Chairman of Guangzhou Xinzhili Energy Technology, said: "We are delighted to sign this MoU with Elcogen. As a member of the China Southern Power Grid Group, Guangzhou Xinzhili is committed to advancing the development of advanced energy technologies.
"We see strong potential in hydrogen energy applications within the power sector and recognise Elcogen’s technological strength in solid oxide fuel cells. Through this partnership, we intend to combine our complementary strengths — Elcogen’s stack technology with Guangzhou Xinzhili’s product integration — to deliver mutual value and support the clean energy transition.”
The partnership provides Elcogen with a route to engage more closely with a major organisation within the China Southern Power Grid group, while giving Guangzhou Xinzhili access to Elcogen’s solid oxide stack technology.
The companies said the cooperation is intended to support the development and deployment of clean-energy solutions across China and potentially in international markets.
