The milestone positions KBL at the forefront of global pump manufacturing
In a major boost to India’s engineering credentials, Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) has secured prestigious NABL accreditation for its Hydraulic Research Centre Pump Testing Laboratory at its Kirloskarvadi plant in Maharashtra—becoming the only pump manufacturer in the world to achieve the distinction.
The certification, granted by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories, confirms compliance with the globally recognised ISO/IEC 17025:2017 laboratory standard, covering a wide spectrum of roto dynamic pumps, including centrifugal, mixed flow and axial variants tested across multiple performance parameters.

Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Kirloskar underscored the significance of the achievement. The accreditation carries global weight. As NABL is a signatory to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement, KBL’s test results will be accepted in over 100 countries—fast-tracking approvals and strengthening its appeal across sectors such as water utilities, power, irrigation and defence.
The timing is strategic. India’s pump market, valued at USD 2.90 billion in 2024, is projected to grow to USD 4.14 billion by 2030, driven by infrastructure expansion and rising global demand for certified suppliers amid shifting “China+1” sourcing strategies.
With this accreditation, KBL not only sharpens its competitive edge in international markets but also reinforces its reputation for delivering reliable, high-performance pumping solutions aligned with the most stringent global quality frameworks.
