MAIRE bags €50 million in new sustainable tech awards across Asia, Europe & North America

MAIRE has secured new awards worth approximately €50 million for its Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) business unit, strengthening its position across the global fertilizer, plastics recycling and industrial technology markets.
 
The projects span Asia, Europe and North America, with awards covering urea technology, proprietary equipment, engineering design and plastic upcycling.
 
In Asia, Stamicarbon, the nitrogen technology licensing subsidiary of Nextchem, will provide licensing, a Process Design Package (PDP) and proprietary equipment for a new grassroots urea plant with a capacity of around 3,500 metric tons per day (MTPD).
 
The plant will use Stamicarbon’s proprietary Ultra-Low Energy (ULE) design, part of the NX STAMI Urea technology portfolio. The technology is designed to cut steam consumption and operating costs compared with conventional urea processes, while advanced process features and proprietary materials are intended to improve equipment reliability, extend asset life and support safe, stable operations.
 
In Germany, Stamicarbon has also won a proprietary equipment contract from SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz GmbH, one of Europe’s largest integrated ammonia and urea production sites.
 
Under the contract, Stamicarbon will supply three high-pressure urea strippers based on its NX STAMI™ Urea technology. The equipment is designed to deliver major process improvements, including debottlenecking, lower high-pressure steam consumption and greater reliability of the liquid distribution system.
 
Meanwhile, in Canada, Stamicarbon has been awarded a Process Design Package contract for a new grassroots urea plant with a production capacity of approximately 1,150 short tons per day (STPD).
 
The facility will use Stamicarbon’s LAUNCH MELT Conventional Total Recycle technology. The company will provide the PDP for the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase, helping move the project toward final investment and execution decisions.
 
Nextchem is also expanding its plastics circularity business, having secured a feasibility study from a Turkish integrated waste management and renewable energy company for a 40,000-tonne-per-year mechanical plastic upcycling plant in Türkiye.
 
The proposed facility will use Nextchem’s proprietary NX Replast technology to process mixed polyolefin waste, including polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and convert purified plastic streams into high-value compounded recycled polymers.
