Metso is expanding its slurry-handling business with an agreement to acquire peristaltic hose pump and progressive cavity pump technologies, along with related aftermarket spare parts and service capabilities, from Valmet.

 

The deal will broaden Metso’s pumping portfolio for demanding mining and industrial applications, adding technologies designed to handle abrasive, corrosive, viscous and crystallizing slurries. The acquired business also brings a solid and growing installed base, strengthening Metso’s recurring aftermarket spare parts and service revenues.

 

The transaction is expected to close on October 1, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed, and Metso said the acquisition will have no material impact on its financial performance.

The newly acquired hose pump technologies are designed for applications where continuous flow, reliability, efficiency, easy maintenance and long wear life are critical.

 

Potential uses include thickener underflow, filter feed, flocculant dosing, slurry sampling and recirculation across heavy mining operations.

 

Metso said the acquisition will strengthen its ability to provide comprehensive slurry-handling and pumping solutions across the full mining flowsheet.

 

The acquired products are currently sold under Valmet’s Flowrox brand and will be integrated into Metso’s pumps portfolio and rebranded under the Metso name.

 

Production will move to Metso’s manufacturing facilities in Lappeenranta, Finland, with related personnel transferring to the site.
