The project covers design, supply, installation, commissioning, and operation of one of India’s largest polymer flooding facilities over a 10-year period
SNF Flopam India, a SNF France Group Company, has been awarded Rs. 547 crore contract by ONGC Mehsana Asset for the “Hiring of Polymer Injection Facilities – Phase 2” at the Bechraji Field (GGS-I).
This project reinforces SNF’s leadership in Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR) technology and marks a significant milestone in India’s efforts to maximize output from mature oil fields and to minimise import dependency of crude oil. SNF is executing extended pilot projects since last four years with very good recovery factor and because of that ONGC is moving forward for full field implementation.
The project covers the design, supply, installation, commissioning, and operation of one of India’s largest polymer flooding facilities over a 10-year period.
Scope of work for Phase-2 development includes: Polymer injection into 38 wells in an inverted 5-spot pattern; Supply and operation of polymer injection skids, hydration units, pumping systems, utilities, and complete pipeline networks; Full Operation & Maintenance (O&M) including polymer and other chemicals, manpower, spares, monitoring systems, and utilities; and Creation of complete surface facilities at a dedicated site near Bechraji GGS-I.
This turnkey EOR deployment will significantly enhance viscous oil recovery and support ONGC’s long-term production strategy.
“This project is a game-changing milestone for SNF in India. Our polymer technologies have improved oil recovery in many parts of the world, and we are proud to bring this capability to ONGC at such a large scale. The Bechraji development reinforces our commitment to India’s energy sector and strengthens our long-standing partnership with ONGC,” said Pascal Remy, Chairman & CEO, SNF Group.
“Securing this project is a matter of immense pride for our India team. This is one of the largest polymer flooding projects in the country and reflects SNF’s technical strength, operational excellence, and the trust built with ONGC. We see this as a transformational step for SNF India and a major contribution toward enhancing India’s domestic oil production, fully aligned with the nation’s Make in India vision and Aatmnirbhar Bharat,” said Shital Khot, Chairman & Managing Director, SNF Flopam India.
The Bechraji Polymer Injection Project aligns with ONGC’s mission to maximize crude oil recovery from mature fields in Gujarat. With SNF’s global expertise in acrylamide polymers and advanced EOR solutions, the initiative is expected to significantly elevate recovery efficiency and long-term field performance.
