Overview

Indian Pharma Post and Indian Chemical News in collaboration with Alleima is organizing a daylong event on "Corrosion Risk Management and Process Safety in Pharma and Chemical industry", to discuss the cost of corrosion and focusing on a framework for the right material selection to solve corrosion problems in the Pharma industry especially heat exchanger tubes.

Corrosion in Pharmaceutical and Chemical industries poses a significant challenge, threatening equipment integrity, product purity, and regulatory compliance. Traditional approaches to corrosion mitigation often involve the use of materials like stainless steel, nickel alloys, and fluoropolymers, each with varying degrees of resistance to specific corrosive agents. However, an increasing focus on environmental sustainability necessitates the exploration of greener and more sustainable solutions.

The growing demand for pharmaceuticals and chemicals has been accelerating the manufacturing base of these industries. One of the major challenges these plants are facing that impacts the overall performance of the plant is corrosion. The corrosion failures of heat exchanger tubes can cause downtime, contamination of products, and in the worst case - safety hazards. The ability to overcome such manufacturing challenges will be critical to business success therefore, right material selection for new equipment is critical. All this will lead to reducing failures and maintenance costs and help in boosting productivity.

Here, Alleima's heat exchanger tube portfolio comes into picture and that includes imperial and metric tube sizes, from OD (Outer Diameter) 12 mm up to 50.8 mm (0.472 to 2.0 inch). Special sizes can be made to order. Alleima heat exchanger tubes are supplied in straight lengths up to 28 meters, or as U-bent tubes.

Alleima's portfolio of duplex stainless steels is the widest on the market. Duplex stainless steel heat exchanger tubes perform exceptionally well in a variety of environments and media common in process industries, resulting in lower life-cycle costs.

One of the latest innovations by Alleima is Sanicro® 35, which can serve as a very competitive alternative to bridge the gap between expensive nickel alloys and stainless steels (duplex and austenitic) in the most demanding applications.
