Certified alternative EO-based ingredients enable customers to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining high performance standards
Syensqo and Shell Chemicals Europe B.V. are collaborating to supply mass-balanced, low-carbon ethylene oxide (EO) solutions for industrial and agricultural markets, offering up to 51% lower carbon footprints. Utilizing carbon capture utilisation (CCU) credits and certified feedstocks, these drop-in solutions allow customers to reduce scope 3 emissions without altering production processes
Verified under the ISCC Carbon Footprint Certification (CFC), these drop-in solutions allow customers to reduce the carbon footprint of their formulations without requalification, while maintaining performance, quality, and supply reliability.
“Customers are under increasing pressure to reduce the carbon footprint of their products without compromising performance or supply reliability,” said Chloé Masselon, Sustainability Director at Syensqo. “Combining certified low-carbon feedstocks with drop-in compatibility, these solutions offer a practical and immediate way to decarbonise formulations at scale while meeting evolving regulatory and market expectations.”
This initiative supports Syensqo’s One Planet ambition to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions in Focus 5 categories by 25% by 2030 compared to 2021 levels. It also demonstrates that reducing value chain emissions requires collaboration across the ecosystem, from raw material suppliers to ingredients providers to finished goods manufacturers.
