INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe has unveiled a new Recycl-IN hybrid polymer grade containing 70% recycled material, targeting contact-sensitive cosmetics packaging without sacrificing performance, aesthetics or processability.
The new grade, rPP1025C, is a natural-colour polypropylene homopolymer developed for thin-walled injection moulding and fibre extrusion. It is designed to meet the demanding requirements of premium cosmetics components while significantly increasing recycled content and cutting carbon emissions.
Recycl-IN hybrid polymers combine high levels of mechanically recycled plastic with advanced booster polymers, delivering the strength, surface quality and ease of processing typically associated with virgin polypropylene. INEOS says the approach enables manufacturers to raise sustainability credentials while maintaining product quality.
rPP1025C is suited to the production of stiff, coloured or translucent parts such as screw caps, jars and lids, mascara reservoirs and caps, deodorant roller balls, and spray-over caps and dispenser components.
Key performance attributes include high stiffness for shape retention and a premium feel, along with heat resistance to protect product stability and shelf life. As a true drop-in solution, the new grade offers mechanical, optical and processing properties comparable to virgin polypropylene, while delivering a 35% lower carbon footprint.
Safety and compliance have also been addressed. The recycled content is covered by an FDA No Objection Letter and certified as Post-Consumer Recyclate by RecyClass, in line with ISO 14021 environmental labelling standards.
The launch marks the second Recycl-IN hybrid grade developed by INEOS specifically for cosmetics packaging, following rPP2030C. The company’s broader Recycl-IN portfolio includes ready-made polyolefin compounds for rigid and flexible applications across sectors such as automotive, construction, packaging, drainage systems, sports infrastructure, storage and textiles.
According to INEOS, rPP1025C combines stiffness, virgin-level heat resistance, natural colour, scratch resistance and high colourability, enabling brands to meet sustainability goals while preserving design freedom and premium brand appearance.
