The resulting Stockholm Declaration on the Chemistry of the Future, signed by all participants—including Nobel Laureate Prof. Ben Feringa of the Netherlands—was officially released at the Nobel Prize Museum on May 23


Internationally acclaimed for his pioneering contributions to green hydrogen, decarbonisation, sustainability, circular economy, and green chemistry and engineering, Prof. Ganapati D. Yadav was invited to participate in the Nobel Symposium on Chemistry for Sustainability: Fundamental Advances, held in Stockholm, Sweden from May 19–23, 2025.

A select group of thirty leading experts from various countries deliberated at the symposium. The resulting Stockholm Declaration on the Chemistry of the Future, signed by all participants—including Nobel Laureate Prof. Ben Feringa of the Netherlands—was officially released at the Nobel Prize Museum on May 23.

Prof. Yadav was the sole invitee from India and played a key role in drafting the declaration. He is the second signatory, following Prof. Paul Anastas of Yale University, USA.

Prof. Yadav has the rare distinction of mentoring 115 PhD scholars, 153 Master’s students in engineering and technology, and 48 post doctoral researchers, in addition to holding 137 granted patents. He also played a pivotal role in establishing two additional campuses of ICT Mumbai - One in Bhubaneswar, fully supported by Indian Oil Corporation and another in Jalna, backed by the Government of Maharashtra.

An exceptional academic and administrator, Prof. Yadav has been consistently ranked by the Stanford University Global Survey among the top 0.2% researchers worldwide and number one in India in Physical Chemistry, ranking 66th globally for five consecutive years.

Recently, Prof. Ganapati D. Yadav was honoured with the prestigious Bhatnagar Fellowship of CSIR and the Eminent Engineer Award by the Engineering Council of India, currently serving as the National Science Chair (Government of India).

He is currently engaged with the Government of India’s green hydrogen initiatives and serves as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University, Nagpur.
