The acquisition gives Sika immediate access to Akkim’s two large-scale production facilities in Turkey and Romania
Sika is making a decisive move to strengthen its global grip on adhesives and sealants.
The Swiss specialty chemicals giant has agreed to acquire Akkim, a fast-growing, family-owned manufacturer headquartered in Turkey, in a deal that significantly expands Sika’s production capacity, distribution power, and geographic reach.
Akkim generated approximately CHF 220 million in net sales in 2025 and has built a formidable presence across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Its extensive distribution network and broad portfolio of proprietary adhesive and sealant technologies have made it a rising force in high-growth construction markets.
The acquisition gives Sika immediate access to Akkim’s two large-scale production facilities in Turkey and Romania — with a third major Turkish site currently under development. The strategically located plants are expected to serve as powerful regional production and export hubs.
The deal aligns squarely with Sika’s Strategy 2028, which prioritizes expanding its adhesives and sealants business and strengthening its distribution footprint. Akkim’s deep channel expertise and established network are set to accelerate Sika’s growth across distribution, retail, and e-commerce platforms.
The transaction delivers three key advantages:
Expanded product portfolio: Akkim significantly broadens Sika’s adhesives and sealants offering, particularly in the distribution channel, enhancing its position as a preferred partner for distributors across the region.
Stronger customer and channel access: Akkim’s network unlocks major cross-selling opportunities, including complementary products such as repair mortars and waterproofing solutions, while expanding Sika’s reach into high-growth markets.
Increased production capacity: The addition of highly efficient manufacturing sites strengthens Sika’s operational footprint and establishes a competitive production and export base to support long-term expansion.
A member of Sika’s Group Management underscored the significance of the move: "The acquisition of Akkim marks a major step in strengthening our position in the adhesives and sealants industry. Akkim’s strong growth platform, highly complementary product portfolio, and deep customer relationships offer significant growth opportunities and value creation. We look forward to welcoming the Akkim team into the Sika family and driving our joint success in the years ahead."
