BASF Beauty Care Solutions France S.A.S. is a leader in the field of cosmetic active ingredients
BASF Beauty Care Solutions France has been officially recognized as a member of the Union for Ethical Biotrade (UEBT): Sourcing with respect, a global non-profit organization that promotes ethical sourcing practices that respect people and biodiversity. The membership underscores BASF’s deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing, embodied in its Responsibly Active program.
“BASF Beauty Care Solutions France S.A.S. is a leader in the field of cosmetic active ingredients, and we are proud to welcome them into the UEBT community,” said Rik Kutsch Lojenga, Executive Director of UEBT. “Together, we will continue advancing priorities and actions that promote ethical sourcing and biodiversity conservation within the beauty industry.”
“UEBT plays a vital role in promoting the responsible use of biodiversity, and its values perfectly align with our Responsibly Activecommitments,” said Charlotte d'Erceville-Dumond, Sustainable Innovation Manager at BASF Beauty Care Solutions France. “Becoming a member of UEBT is a recognition of our continuous efforts to protect natural resources, ensure traceability, and empower communities throughout our botanical value chains.”
Launched in 2021, the Responsibly Active program focuses on BASF’s cosmetic bioactives portfolio and is built on three key pillars: innovating products to protect natural resources, empowering people, and minimizing environmental impact. The program aims to ensure that 95 per cent of raw materials are biobased or derived from abundant minerals, and that 100 per cent of botanical supply chains are fully traceable.
These commitments are reflected in BASF’s innovative ingredient portfolio, including Oximony, a recent launch sourced from wild-harvested, FairWild-certified Lysimachia christinae. Every aspect of Oximony’s supply chain is traceable, ensuring sustainable harvesting practices that protect ecosystems while supporting local communities through fair trade initiatives.
Another highlight is BASF’s Rambutan Program, a sustainable sourcing initiative that utilizes organically farmed rambutan fruit and by-products as feedstock for bioactives. Developed in collaboration with local farmers and NGOs, the program promotes biodiversity conservation, good agricultural practices, gender equality, and fair working conditions.
