The plastics industry in Asia and globally is navigating a complex landscape of tightening regulations, supply chain disruptions, and increasing sustainability demands from brand owners and consumers
Clariant, the sustainability-focused specialty chemical leader, is set to showcase a cutting-edge lineup of additives designed to make plastics more sustainable at Chinaplas 2026, running April 21-24 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center.
The Swiss company will spotlight innovations tackling the plastics industry’s toughest challenges, from regulatory compliance and supply chain resilience to carbon footprint reduction and circular economy enablement.
“The plastics industry in Asia and globally is navigating a complex landscape of tightening regulations, supply chain disruptions, and increasing sustainability demands from brand owners and consumers,” said Zhigang Miao, Global Head of Additives at Clariant.
“Our innovations showcased at Chinaplas reflect our commitment to providing solutions that don't require trade-offs – delivering enhanced performance while advancing environmental and regulatory compliance goals.”
PFAS-Free Processing
As global PFAS regulations tighten, Clariant will highlight its AddWorks PPA solutions, including AddWorks PPA 101 FG and AddWorks PPA 122 G. These formulations deliver PFAS-free performance for film extrusion, eliminating shark skin defects, reducing die build-up, and improving extrusion efficiency while supporting EU recyclability standards.
Halogen-Free Flame Retardants
With the shift to 800V+ e-mobility systems, flame retardants must meet high safety and electrical insulation demands amid supply chain volatility. Clariant’s Exolit OP portfolio, featuring the new Exolit OP 1266, offers halogen- and antimony-free solutions for demanding PBT applications. The product maintains a stable 600V comparative tracking index (CTI) after long-term storage, meets UL 94 V-0 requirements, and reduces antimony market exposure.
Clariant’s CHF 100 million Daya Bay facility is now fully operational, and its strategic joint venture with Fuhua for next-generation flame retardants strengthens regional supply security and shortens delivery times.
Renewable Additives
Clariant’s Licocare RBW Vita rice bran wax additives tackle growing montan wax supply constraints. The line, including RBW 100-300, RBW 360 Vita, and RBW 560 Vita, is approved under EU regulation (EU) No 10/2011 for PET, PLA, and rigid PVC in food-contact applications and meets additional FDA and Japanese food contact standards. These renewable bio-based additives reduce carbon footprints without competing with food sources. An exclusive preview of RBW development for TPU will also be featured.
Titanium-Based Catalysts
Clariant will debut new titanium-based catalysts offering antimony-free solutions, lower processing temperatures, reduced energy use, and improved color performance across polyester production and recycling.
“We at Clariant are aware of our responsibility. Our purpose »Greater chemistry between people and planet« describes the role we can play in the world if we align our thinking and all future decisions with it,” the company said.
