Henkel India has partnered with the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai – The Joy of Giving under its CSR initiative to protect and restore local ecosystems around its head office in Navi Mumbai.

Named Project Harmony, this employee volunteering-driven CSR initiative aims to create a transformational impact for the benefit of future generations by combining their collective strength and passion.

Henkel India, in collaboration with Rotary, will engage employee volunteers through hands-on activities designed to make sustainability enjoyable, meaningful, and actionable. The first event in the Project Harmony series was a panel discussion on mangroves and marine biodiversity conservation.

The session featured featured Stalin Dayanand, a renowned environmental conservationist, who passionately highlighted the indigenous value of mangrove ecosystems and the vital role of community involvement in their preservation. Joining him was Piyush Jha, a clean technology expert, who shared innovative solutions for wastewater treatment and reuse, offering promising prospects for marine and wetland sustainability.

Adding a legal perspective, Meenaz Kakalia emphasized existing legal gaps and opportunities for protecting biodiversity-rich areas, particularly focusing on safeguarding the rights of marginalized communities living nearby. Kedarnath Rao Ghorpade, Former Chief Planner of MMRDA, praised the progress made in urban planning in Navi Mumbai towards integrating ecological resilience and encouraged sustained efforts to balance development with environmental priorities.

The session was co-moderated by Bhagwan Kesbhat, Founder of Waatavaran, who guided the conversation through the lens of civic engagement and grassroots action, alongside Dr. Anjali Parasnis, Coordinator of the World Bank’s 2030 Water Resources Group, who provided a valuable global perspective to the regional conservation dialogue.

“Project Harmony marks the beginning of a deeper commitment to biodiversity conservation, blending the strengths of community leadership, corporate responsibility, and expert guidance,” said S Sunil Kumar, Country President of Henkel India.
