Worley has secured a five‑year Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contract with Energinet to spearhead Phase 1 of the Danish Hydrogen Backbone pipeline.

The project is a cornerstone of Denmark’s push to build a national hydrogen transmission network. The pipeline will connect large‑scale green hydrogen production from wind and solar with Germany and broader European markets, boosting regional energy security and accelerating the green transition.

Under the deal, Worley will provide EPCM services for roughly 41 km of new hydrogen pipeline and convert around 89 km of existing natural gas pipeline, alongside supporting infrastructure to underpin Denmark’s future hydrogen network.

“This is an important milestone for our Nordic region and for Europe’s hydrogen ambitions. We are proud that Energinet has chosen Worley to help deliver such a critical part of energy infrastructure,” said Jan Narvestad, SVP Nordics.

The project will be led from Denmark, with support from Worley’s teams across the Nordics, the UK, and India.

“Our regional expertise, combined with our global capabilities, positions us strongly to support customers who are building the foundations of a low‑carbon future. Danish Hydrogen Backbone pipeline is exactly the type of project where we can make an important contribution to the green transition – safely, collaboratively and at scale,” Narvestad added.

The Danish Hydrogen Backbone pipeline is expected to be commissioned by late 2030.
