Tiberghien was a central figure in shaping both Syensqo and its predecessor, Solvay
Syensqo has expressed its deep sadness at the sudden passing of Hervé Tiberghien, 61, the company’s Chief Operations and People Officer and a member of its Executive Leadership Team.
Tiberghien was a central figure in shaping both Syensqo and its predecessor, Solvay. From 2019 to 2023, he served as Solvay’s Chief People Officer, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s people strategy and culture. Widely respected for his ethical leadership, he championed inclusion, wellbeing and performance, consistently embodying the company’s purpose of bringing people, ideas and elements together to reinvent progress.
Following the creation of Syensqo in December 2023, Tiberghien joined the newly formed company as Chief Operations Officer and later assumed the additional role of Chief People Officer in August 2024. In a short but decisive period, he helped define Syensqo’s operating model, organizational structure and long-term people strategy.
His influence extended far beyond formal roles. Tiberghien was a driving force behind Syensqo’s ways of working, promoting curiosity, collaboration and shared accountability. He remained steadfastly focused on creating positive impact for customers, employees and society, laying strong foundations for operational excellence and a people-centered culture that will endure.
Before joining Solvay and Syensqo, Tiberghien held several senior leadership positions at PPG Industries, including Chief Human Resources Officer and Vice President of Human Resources at the company’s global headquarters in Pittsburgh.
Across a distinguished international career, Tiberghien left a lasting mark on every organization he served.
