Air Liquide is strengthening its long-term industrial footprint in Kazakhstan with a fresh €70 million investment aimed at powering a major new petrochemical expansion led by Silleno.
Air Liquide Karabatan Tech Gases LLP has signed a long-term agreement with Silleno to supply nitrogen and compressed dry air for its upcoming world-scale polyethylene plant. The deal marks a significant scale-up of Air Liquide’s presence in the country, where it has operated since 2016.
Under the agreement, ALKTG will design, build, own and operate two advanced nitrogen production units described as high-purity and energy-efficient. Once operational, the facilities are expected to rank among the largest industrial gas installations in Central Asia.
The supply of industrial gases will be synchronized with Silleno’s project timeline, with commissioning targeted for the end of 2028, aligning with the launch of the new polyethylene complex.
The infrastructure will be located inside the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark Special Economic Zone in the Karabatan basin, Atyrau region—close to ALKTG’s existing air separation unit, which already supplies nitrogen to Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI).
The new project builds on Air Liquide’s earlier 2019 investment in the region and is expected to further consolidate its industrial base in the Karabatan petrochemical cluster, reinforcing its long-term strategy in Central Asia.
