Upgrade enables continuous production of BS-VI compliant diesel while strengthening reliability and long-term refining capability

Nayara Energy has completed the revamp of its Vacuum Gasoil Mild Hydrocracker (VGO-MHC) unit at the Vadinar refinery, ensuring that 100% of its diesel output consistently complies with BS-VI emission standards. This strategic upgrade enhances the facility's capability to deliver cleaner fuels efficiently while supporting India's rising energy demands.

This project maximizes production continuity by extending the unit's operating cycle by more than 150%, significantly reducing downtime between scheduled maintenance. Furthermore, it elevates the refinery's Nelson Complexity Index to 12.6 by improving efficiency and crude processing flexibility.

Commenting on the milestone, Sergey Denisov, Chief Development Officer, Nayara Energy said, “Despite a challenging global environment, the project was successfully commissioned through a more self-reliant execution approach. This included the installation of a 1,435-ton reactor in a live refinery environment, underscoring Nayara Energy’s ability to safely execute complex refinery upgrades at scale.”

These ongoing investments reinforce the company’s role as a reliable partner in advancing India’s energy self-sufficiency, ensuring uninterrupted supply, and supporting the nation’s long-term growth and prosperity.
