The upgrade is designed to accelerate innovation in biological and formulation research

Corteva has announced a major expansion of its Singapore laboratory, increasing its footprint by 50% in a strategic move to strengthen its advanced crop protection capabilities across the region.

The upgrade is designed to accelerate innovation in biological and formulation research, supporting farmers facing rising pressure to improve yields while controlling costs.

The expansion comes as nature-inspired agricultural innovations gain momentum across Asia. Among the most notable developments is the spinosyn range of crop protection products, derived from the fermentation of a naturally occurring soil bacterium.

These solutions are engineered to deliver rapid, effective crop protection at significantly lower application rates. For farmers in cost-sensitive markets, the technology offers a way to reduce input expenses and apply treatments only when necessary.

The opening ceremony in Singapore was hosted by Corteva Senior Vice-President Brook Cunningham and attended by guests of honour, including Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) Executive Vice President Lim Wey-Len.

“Corteva’s expanded Singapore laboratory is an example of our targeted investments to support growth in this region. By investing in advanced formulation and biological research capabilities, we are strengthening our ability to bring differentiated, high-quality crop protection solutions tailored to the market," said Brook Cunningham, Senior Vice President, Corteva.

“Corteva’s decision to expand its R&D laboratory here reinforces Singapore’s position as a key chemicals hub with capabilities to support growing bioeconomy opportunities and the global shift towards bio-based products.

"The expansion will enable Corteva to formulate new biological crop protection solutions to better serve customers in APAC and beyond. We welcome Corteva’s investment in Singapore and look forward to working with like-minded partners to capture new growth opportunities," said Lim Wey-Len, Executive Vice President, EDB.
